And so to the final match of tour as we visited Nailsea CC.
Eventually the minibus turned up and we arrived (late) at a very
pleasant looking ground. The Goodwill were invited to bat first.
And I'll say it because it's been so rare this season, but we were
cr*p. Nailsea were a good side, but we didn't help ourselves one
bit with poor dismissals throughout the innings. We were bowled
out for 95.
And then we showed what we are about. We don't give up, we don't
give in, we fight every inch of the way. And we gave Nailsea a bit
of a scare by capturing 7 wickets and missing a half-chance for
one of the not-out batsmen. Nailsea were good, and had a couple of
first XI to come in, but did their best to make a game of it,
which was a nice touch.
We then had a 12-over match. Nailsea batted first and made 90-ish,
and we chased them down in the last over! Chris Cashman made 28
and retired, and Ranjan and Trigger batted and ran very well to
guide us home.
We then retired to the bar and drunk some more.
All in all it was a good tour, and emphasised the spirit within
the club. The WAGS seemed to enjoy it as well. Thanks to every
touring member for their contribution. Apologies the match reports
aren't more detailed - I blame the beer.
